Coastal Explorer™ offers a sophisticated and comprehensive cruise planning and logging tool tailored for pleasure boaters. The app transitions into a full navigation system upon acquiring a chart subscription.

The Coastal Explorer app includes the following planning features:

Viewing NOAA nautical charts for the US in vector format
Creating routes, waypoints, boundaries, and various navigation objects
Cloud-synchronization of your navigation objects
Access to ActiveCaptain points of interest
Information from the US Coast Pilot
Marine weather forecasts and observations for the US
Tide and current predictions for the US

Upon subscribing to the chart service, Coastal Explorer transforms into a comprehensive navigation solution, featuring:

Downloadable charts, tide and current predictions, and ActiveCaptain places for offline use
Integration with compatible networked marine electronics devices such as GPS, compass, depth sounder, anemometer, AIS, autopilot, and more
Customizable instrument panels
Route following with cross-track error, distance and time to go, estimated time of arrival, etc.
Track and event recording functionality
Integrated blogging capabilities
